To celebrate the choir’s 30th anniversary, Voices will present a complete performance of G. F. Handel’s Messiah, with orchestra and soloists. Messiah remains as one of Handel’s most famous works, and it has been performed around the world consistently since its premiere in Dublin during the Easter season in 1742. Messiah has became a staple in the choral repertoire and it is usually performed at Christmas time. Come and join the choir to celebrate this most magical season of the year and be inspired by the glorious music by one of the great composers.

Ein deutsches Requiem
Saturday March 20, 2027 8pmConrad Gold and Kyeong-ok Kim, Piano
During this season of Lent, Voices will present Johannes Brahms’s Ein deutsches Requiem in a chamber version for Piano 4 Hands arranged by Brahms himself. This kind of arrangement (from an orchestral work into piano) was a common practice at the time, so that the public could experience the music at home. Unlike the standard setting of the Latin Missa de profundis (Mass for the Dead), Brahms took passages from both the Old and New Testaments in Luther’s translation to provide a Requiem for the living. Brahms himself would have called it “Ein menschliches Requiem" (A Human Requiem).

Saturday, June 5, 2027, 8pmVoices will close out our 30th anniversary season with a concert to pay tribute to music. The featured work will be Ralph Vaughan William’s Serenade to Music, originally written for 16 soloists with lyrics adapted from William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice in 1938. The choir will also perform some of their favourites from the last 29 years. We hope you can come and celebrate with us.
